SHARSHERET WEST COAST DASH

Sharsheret gathers on Dockweiler Beach for its third annual West Coast Dash, which supports the organization’s breast and ovarian cancer work. The program includes a new route with a 5K, a 10K and a family fun race. There’ll also be an event festival. All ages, abilities and strollers welcome. “YOU WILL NOT REPLACE US”

USC Casden Institute holds a virtual screening of “You Will Not Replace Us.” Directed by USC alumni Josh Green and Luke Harris, the film confronts the complex relationship between Black and Ƶ American and the groups’ common struggle to fight hate. ROSH HASHANAH 101

“THE NIGHTINGALE OF IRAN”

Words and music highlight this program at the Skirball, featuring Galeet and Danielle Dardashti. Galeet’s multisensory “Monajat,” which combines religious poetry and original music, is performed for the first time in Los Angeles. “JEWS OF THE ISLAMIC WORLD”

“SABBATH QUEEN”

Director Sandi DuBowski’s epic documentary, “Sabbath Queen,” which was shot over the span of 21 years, follows Amichai Lau-Lavie’s journey from radical drag queen to influential rabbi of a God-optional, artist-driven synagogue in New York. Professor Michael Berenbaum leads the discussion, “Why is this Ƶ New Year Different from All Others?” As we prepare for the new Ƶ year, Berenbaum examines the profound impact of Oct. 7, which he believes is a transformative event in Ƶ history marking a significant change for Ƶ peoplehood and Zionism. Peter Himmelman celebrates the release of his new book “Suspended by No String,” at the Happy Minyan. Himmelman, an Emmy-nominated musician, appears in conversation with David Sacks. Echoing the lyricism of Leonard Cohen and the lighthearted poignance of Anne Lamott, “Suspended by No String” is a thought-provoking anthology of spiritual reflections that will inspire readers to reclaim their childlike sense of wonder. “WOMAN IN CHARGE”

Temple Israel of Hollywood holds a screening of the new Hulu documentary, “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge,” which takes an unprecedented look at the extraordinary life of a Ƶ fashion icon. In the film, von Furstenberg — known by her initials DVF — reflects on her journey, being the daughter of a Holocaust survivor and the “wrap dress” that transformed her career. “THE ART OF DIPLOMACY”

Former-Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat is a veteran diplomat and the author of the new book, “The Art of Diplomacy.” He. appears in discussion with American Ƶ University President Jeffrey Herbst, where they’ll examine when diplomacy is successful, what must be done to bring peaceful resolution to conflicts and the lessons of his work for his current conflict in the Middle East. HADASSAH BOOK EVENT

Are you ready to change up your thinking and live brave-ishly? Author and travel expert Lisa Niver will discuss her book  “Brave-ish: One Breakup, Six Continents, and Feeling Fearless After Fifty.” The inspirational evening is organized by Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization.
